Wanda & Tony Douglas

Areas of expertise: Involving Caregivers in all aspects of programming

Tony and Wanda Douglas have specialized in team training since the day they met. They use their positive, motivational and spiritual background to help create a positive team perspective with the youths and adults they train. By training as a team, Wanda and Tony are able to connect to the both male and female caregivers, providing guidance and insight to those different perspectives as caregivers learn about the youths in their home, and themselves.

Tony and Wanda were married in May 1988. Tony spent four years in the US Army while Wanda attended Tuskegee Institute. They both have degrees in Christian Ministry and were licensed into the ministry in 1998. The Douglas’ have developed several businesses over the years and have been teaching/training for over 20 years. They became Therapeutic Foster Parents in 2000, adopted their first two foster children, have continued to parent their third child since 2001, and have had over 75 children join their family. The Douglas’ primarily foster teenagers and have found an aptitude for teaching and inspiring other caregivers to work more effectively with teens in their homes.

Currently, Wanda is a full-time Home School Teacher while Tony works as Operations Manager at Wachovia Bank in addition to teaching and training around the state.  In their spare time Tony is a professional boxing trainer and Wanda teaches aerobics.

Tony and Wanda have been recognized as “Community Leaders of the Year” for their advocacy for children in care. They feel strongly that properly training parents is the only way to help meet the needs of our young people and are committed to helping them develop through real world experiences as they transition.
